After laying her nest of many eggs deep in the sand along a Florida beach, a female loggerhead sea turtle returns to the ocean. Thus begins the hatchling turtles' arduous journey to survival. (Only one in one thousand sea turtles live to adulthood.) Even before the eggs can hatch, however, a tropical storm threatens to destroy the entire nest.
In Buster's latest wildlife adventure, he and his friend Rob help a local wildlife officer save some of the hatchlings, including the frail Okee and Dokee. In the process, they learn everything from how to track the path of a tropical storm to how sea turtles survive in the wild.
The Saving of Okee and Dokee Sea Turtle features a complete glossary and expository appendix with more information about sea turtles, and how we can all help this magnificent but threatened species survive.
